CSUMB Extended Ed provides university courses to meet the needs of the community at large. This includes courses for professional development in business, education, technology, and other fields that will improve your job skills, open doors to new careers, and extend lifelong learning. CSUMB Extended Ed enrollment is open to everyone on a fee-per-course basis and does not require a university application. CSUMB Extended Ed classes run during summer, fall, winter and spring.
You can take regular CSUMB courses without formal admission to the university during fall and spring semesters! Open University refers to an enrollment process that allows members of the community to take regular CSUMB courses on a space-available basis with instructor approval.
Extension courses are various courses that are open to everyone on a fee per course basis; fees may vary. Registration dates are posted per term. These courses are available for Fall and Spring semesters and Winter and Summer terms.
How to Register in Extension courses
Open University refers to an enrollment process that allows members of the community to take regular CSUMB courses on a space-available basis with the instructor's approval. Open University enrollment does not require a university application. Students can only enroll on the first day of class, on a space-available basis with the instructor's approval.

Registration remains open through the first day of class. Space is limited. Register early! After the first day of class, the instructor's signature is required to enroll.
Registration starts on the first day of class on a space-available basis with instructor signature/approval. See Academic Calendar . Students requiring instructor consent/approval, to include online classes, can attach an email from the instructor and submit along with your registration form and payment.
Fees vary. Please check the course schedule for special fees noted in the far right Fee Amount column. If fees are not noted, regular CSUMB tuition rates apply. See

- Calculate fees due and complete the registration process.

Prior to the first day of class, check for course status and location updates on the course schedule.

Attend the first class meeting and verify that you are on the class roster.
It is your responsibility to verify your enrollment in a course. If not on the class roster, take your payment receipt to the Campus Service Center in Building 47 to confirm your enrollment status. Keep checking with your instructor until your name appears on the class roster.
No name on the class roster = no credit for the course.
Contact Extended Education as some courses require purchasing of books from specific sources.
To purchase your books from the CSUMB Bookstore in the University Center (Building 29), please have the following information available: course number, section, and title. Specify your book preferences: new or used and whether you want required only or required and recommended. (Example: CST 101, Sec 11, Tech Tools, new and required only)
